Child Care Referral and Subsidy Specialist
Position Classification: 25 hours/ week (part-time), hourly, non-exempt
Reports to: Kingdom Child Care Center Program Manager
Location: St. Johnsbury, VT
The aim of this position is to contribute to the goals that children have an enduring relationship with healthy, nurturing families and that children are successful in family, school and community. The position will join a dynamic team that works cohesively to meet the needs of families in the St. Johnsbury, VT area. Specifically, the Child Care Referral and Subsidy Specialist will: (1) Help families find child care while providing consumer education about quality childcare; and provide community information and outreach about child care data and needs and (2) Determine eligibility for the child care financial assistance program and provide services to support parents/ guardians in accessing and maintaining their benefits.
Child Care Referral
Provide information and data about the availability of and the need for quality care to the community
Provide consumer education and child care referrals to families
Provide enhanced referral services, when needed, to eligible families
Maintain Bright Futures Information System (BFIS) referral agreements for regulated child care
programs in the AHS district
Inform and assist parents in accessing referrals to other appropriate services, including developmental
information and screenings
Child Care Financial Assistance Eligibility
Provide information and eligibility determination for the Child Care Financial Assistance Program in a
manner prescribed by the Child Development Division
Inform and assist parents enrolled in the Child Care Financial Assistance Program (CCFAP) about
Economic Service benefits for which they may be eligible
BA in Early Childhood Education, Education, Human Development, or related field;
Minimum of three years’ experience working in child care, parent education, or family support
Knowledge of child care and developmentally appropriate practice; active listening and program
solving; diversity and cultural competence, and child care issues and community resources.
